I didn't click the TikTok link, but I did begin researching this product category, and discovered that, wow, electric scissors may be more useful than I expected. The most obvious benefit is that the cutting blade is fully electric-powered and attached to the end of a hand grip. This alone makes breaking down boxes for recycling a safer proposition.
With a box cutter, unless you're laying the cardboard flat on a level surface, you're likely wielding the sharp blade in a manner where it could potentially snag and slice into your leg. I mean, c'mon. Look at this guy at the 30 second mark.
But electric scissors, like the $46 Worx Zipsnip model I eventually bought on Amazon, afford you greater control and safety. I can hold a box in one hand, and the Worx in the other, and simply glide the scissors through the cardboard. The ease-of-use makes it a lot more convenient to break down boxes into multiple pieces—and that means I can pack more cardboard into the recycling bin.

Sony has announced its new WH-1000XM6 wireless noise-canceling headphones. The good news is that the company has brought back the foldable design that was absent from its predecessor, the WH-1000XM5. The bad news is that it's stuck with the same naming convention, which sounds less like headphones and more like a dot-matrix printer from the 70s.

Computex 2025 is approaching, and it's sure to bring a ton of announcements about the latest chips, laptops, gaming devices and more from leading brands. The event in Taipei will kick off on Monday, May 19 with a keynote from NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang at the Taipei Music Center. There will be a livestream for anyone not attending in person, so you can watch along on the Computex website or YouTube channel.
Huang's keynote is scheduled for 11PM ET/ 8PM PT on May 18 (11AM on May 19 in Taiwan Time), and we can expect to hear all about the company's developments in the AI space. It'll be followed that same day by a keynote from Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon. Computex this year will, perhaps unsurprisingly, focus heavily on AI, with the overall theme being "AI Next." It'll also highlight products in three categories: AI & Robotics, Next-Gen Tech and Future Mobility.
An estimated 1,400 exhibitors will be in attendance, including ASUS, Acer and AMD, all of which have previously made big

You hear that sound? That's the sound of augmented reality (AR) fading away as a driving concept in technology.
You could blame Apple, which handed down an edict to Apple Vision Pro developers: "Refer to your app as a spatial computing app. Don't describe your app experience as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), extended reality (XR), or mixed reality (MR)."
But blaming Apple would be wrong. Instead, blame artificial intelligence (AI) — specifically the generative AI (genAI) trend of the past year and a half; it's completely upended and re-directed the purpose and function of the glasses formerly known as AR glasses.

AI-generating malware, deep fake identity spoofing, and state-sponsored ransomware are just a few of the latest methods that attackers are using to bypass traditional cybersecurity tools. Ritesh Agrawal, CEO of cybersecurity startup Airgap Networks, noticed that many of the attacks that compromise enterprise networks fail to penetrate telco and service provider networks.
"Even though they're deploying the same routers, switches, and firewalls, there's something fundamentally different about telco networks that shields them from many threats to enterprise LANs," Argawal said. Agrawal has 20 years of experience with cybersecurity, enterprise networking, and cloud computing, most of that time spent with Juniper Networks focusing on telco and large enterprise clients.
